Adele is a registered Australian and New Zealand patent and trade marks attorney with an honours degree in biotechnology and a masters degree in industrial property. Before joining Madderns in 2005, she was a Patent Examiner with the Australian Patent Office, specialising in pharmaceutical and biotechnology patents. Adele also spent time working in the European Union Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market - Trade Marks and Designs (OHIM). There, she worked within the Intellectual Property Policy Department, evaluating aspects of the Community Trade Mark Registration and Appeals systems.
Adele has also worked as a research scientist with Flinders University, undertaking a risk assessment project concerned with the safety and quality assurance of shellfish for human consumption. The project involved the development of novel molecular diagnostics, chromatographic techniques for sterol analysis, viral isolation and concentration techniques, microbiological characterisation, and assay and environmental monitoring.
During her honours year, Adele worked with the Fox Group of the Cooperative Research Centre for Pest Animal Control, developing a Salmonella-delivered immunocontraceptive vaccine for the control of feral foxes. She specifically focussed on the development of a stable plasmid vector for the delivery of an anti-ovum vaccine. |
